RULES FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE 2017 AUCTION
WHERE & WHEN TO SEND IN THE PEDIGREES
WHAT INFORMATION TO SEND IN EACH PEDIGREE
All information MUST be in the following format for publication in the auction catalog, either submitted on paper or sent via email. If you submit it on paper then either type it or write very neatly in ink (no pencil) so that I can read it.
IMPORTANT: in addition to sending your formatted information on the consignments for the auction catalog, EACH CONSIGNOR MUST SEND A COPY OF THE ACTUAL PEDIGREE (certificate-pedigree, bloodline information) to the auction coordinator. This is meant ONLY as a “back-up” copy, as we have recently had some problems with winning bidders not getting the pedigrees that they have paid for. Please send the actual pedigree information as a Microsoft Word document email attachment, PDF email attachment, or in a readable format in the body of an email message. Please contact the auction coordinator if you have any questions or concerns about the format you are using for the pedigrees.
Example of the formatted submission for publication in the catalog:
Ibn El Arabian
2006 Arabian Colt (may be gelded); chestnut or bay, may grey. Minimal white markings acceptable.
Sire: El Arabian (Sir Arab X Lady, *Bask –R) Bay gone grey. El Arabian is a halter winner at live shows. He was raced with the Race Club and his record is 14 (6-2-3) MSW. His foals are winners in halter, English performance and on the track. He is the sire of 10 photo show champions, 5 NAN-qualified foals and has sired 2 allowance winners on the track.
Dam: Bint Arabian (Swift Arab X Maria, MHF Eclipse –R) BSO, Chestnut. Bint Arabian has never been shown, but she has produced 3 other foals, all 3 have won blue ribbons in halter at photo shows and 2 of them are also NAN-qualified. She has one runner on the track this year, MSW filly Bint Bint Eclipse.
No model body restrictions, but consignor wants to know what body is assigned. BSO or Racing ID foals are also acceptable.
Minimum bid 10¢. 100% to IPABRA. Please note if you'd prefer the winning bidder to send payment directly to the IPABRA Treasurer.

NOTE: I am no longer including the snail mail addresses of consignors in the catalog.
Just Add Horse Consignments
Breeding Family Section
- You must be an IPABRA member in good standing, with your dues current and up to date, in order to consign pedigrees to the auction OR to bid on them. (Just being a member of the email group or Facebook group is not enough; you must be a dues-paid member!)
- You are limited to consigning a TOTAL of 15 pedigrees to the “regular” section of the auction. These can be all in one breed, or a combination of different breeds. This does NOT include your JUST ADD HORSE consignments or BREEDING FAMILY consignments.
- You may consign up to five JUST ADD HORSE consignments (see below).
- You may consign up to three BREEDING FAMILY consignments (see below).
- The sire and dam of the "foal" MUST BE models or BSOs, preferably owned by an IPABRA member but they may be owned by someone outside the club. This auction is intended to promote model breeding. The grandparents, etc. may be real, but the immediate parents must be models. The ONLY exception to this is if YOU personally own the real horse(s). If you own the real parents, then you can submit a foal with real parents.
- The link to the auction catalog will be published in the IPABRA’s newsletter, Bloodlines, along with the dates and information on how to bid. Information will also be posted to the IPABRA Yahoo group & Facebook group.
- Winning bidders have until the end of the calendar year to finalize details of I.D.’s won and to submit that information to consignors, unless arranged otherwise between the winning bidder and the consignor. If the winning bidder has not finalized any “open” details at the end of the calendar year for I.D.’s/pedigrees won in the auction then the consignor will, essentially, retain the right to “reclaim” the foal/foaling year for their own purposes.
WHERE & WHEN TO SEND IN THE PEDIGREES
- Consignments open January 1, 2017
- The DEADLINE for sending in your pedigrees (as formatted consignment information for printing the catalog AND a copy of the actual pedigree) is Midnight PST on Friday, February 17, 2017. If you are submitting your consignments via “snail mail” then all envelopes must be IN MY HANDS by Friday 2/17/2017.
- You MAY send in your pedigrees (consignments) via email as long as you include ALL of the information below so that I can cut and paste it directly into the catalog. If you send them by email, send them to this address: [email protected]
- All snail-mail pedigrees (consignments) should be sent to: Cindi Nakagawa (please email me for snail-mail address if this is the format you prefer).
- IMPORTANT: in addition to sending your formatted information on the consignments for the auction catalog, EACH CONSIGNOR MUST SEND A COPY OF THE ACTUAL PEDIGREE (certificate-pedigree, bloodline information). This is meant ONLY as a “back-up” copy, as we have previously had some problems with winning bidders not getting the pedigrees that they have paid for. Please send the actual pedigree information as a Microsoft Word document email attachment, PDF email attachment, or in a readable format in the body of an email message. Please contact the auction coordinator if you have any questions or concerns about the format you are using for the pedigrees.
WHAT INFORMATION TO SEND IN EACH PEDIGREE
All information MUST be in the following format for publication in the auction catalog, either submitted on paper or sent via email. If you submit it on paper then either type it or write very neatly in ink (no pencil) so that I can read it.
- Name of "Foal" (if you are going to let the new owner name the foal, put UNNAMED)
- Date Foaled or Age of Foal, Breed of Foal, Gender of Foal (If the age or gender is up to the new owner, then state "Open" or give the range of years acceptable.) AND a description of acceptable colors and markings for this foal
- Sire’s Name (his sire X dam, dam’s sire) You may include up to 5 lines of information about the sire and his production record. Remember ‑ the sire must be a model or BSO or Racing ID. Use the notation –R to indicate real ancestors.
- Dam’s Name (her sire X dam, dam’s sire) You may include up to 5 lines of information about the dam and her production record. Remember ‑ the dam must be a model or BSO or Racing ID. Use the notation –R to indicate real ancestors.
- State if you require the new owner to have a body for this foal, and if so, what models are acceptable. If you do not have any restrictions, then state "No restrictions on type of model." If you will allow the foal to be a BSO (Breeding Stock Only, paper horse) or Racing ID, then please state "BSO Acceptable" or "Racing ID acceptable."
- Minimum Bid you will accept AND percentage of bid which goes to IPABRA. In the case where 100% of your consignment is being donated to the club then I can put a note here for the winning bidder to submit payment directly to the club’s treasurer but PLEASE state this, if you want this done. It is not required that all the money go to IPABRA, but in recent years consignors have been very generous & all consignments have been 100% donations, as this is the major fundrasier for the club. Just be aware that if you are collecting the money from the bids & sending a portion on to the club, you need to make sure you get that money to the IPABRA Treasurer on time!
- Your name and your e-mail address. (Please put this here for every pedigree that you submit, not just in one place.)
IMPORTANT: in addition to sending your formatted information on the consignments for the auction catalog, EACH CONSIGNOR MUST SEND A COPY OF THE ACTUAL PEDIGREE (certificate-pedigree, bloodline information) to the auction coordinator. Please send the actual pedigree information as a Microsoft Word document email attachment, PDF email attachment, or in a readable format in the body of an email message. Just Add Horse Consignments
- You may consign up to 5 JUST ADD HORSE consignments.
- All consignments in this category must be COMPLETE, i.e. they must include all information except the horse, including the year of birth or age, color, gender, sire, dam and markings.
- These IDs should be aimed at newcomers, so if possible make these IDs easy to add to an OF/Mass Produced model horse “body.”
- Use the same example as above for consigning these, but please make them complete. For example, for these consignments please include the name, gender, age/year of birth, color, markings and suggest model horse bodies that might be used. You can be somewhat generic (“any model horse body of appropriate breed type”) or specific (by naming/listing specific molds that would be appropriate).
- You can (and I encourage you to be) somewhat flexible, but since this is primarily aimed at newcomers, let's make it as easy as possible.
Breeding Family Section
- You may consign up to 3 BREEDING FAMILY consignments.
- All consignments in this category must be COMPLETE, i.e. they must include a pedigree for a stallion, a pedigree for a complimentary mare to be crossed with the stallion, and a pedigree for the resulting foal from the above cross.
- Please use the following format for consignments in this section:
(BREED OF HORSE) FAMILY
Stallion: (name if applicable), year foaled, color/markings/patterns (or color possibilities), breed.
Sire: (this section should be formatted as described in the regular auction consignment section above)
Dam: (this section should be formatted as described in the regular auction consignment section above)
Mare: (name if applicable), year foaled, color/markings/patterns (or color possibilities), breed.
Sire: (this section should be formatted as described in the regular auction consignment section above)
Dam: (this section should be formatted as described in the regular auction consignment section above)
Foal: (name if applicable), year foaled, color/markings/patterns (or color possibilities), breed.
(name suggestions for the foal, if any)
You may also want to state any requirements/restrictions for body assignments for these pedigrees and/or if BSO’s are acceptable.
Minimum bid amount. Percentage of the money that will be donated to IPABRA.
Consignor’s name and contact information.
